Linear Animations

I picked the “Bad Napster!” video because it related to an event that actually occurred. I believe it is the best because it was such an influential video in the music world. It used effective animation to portray their opinion of the topic.

Storyline: The storyline is based upon the lawsuit that Metallica had against Napster for allowing their music to be downloaded for free. The video is making fun of Metallica for making such a big deal out of people getting their music for free.

Color: The color used in the background of the video was green, which was effective because the topic was based off of a money lawsuit. The color palette was simple and effective for the video.

Drawing Style: The drawing style was also very effective to this video. The point of the video was to make fun of Metallica so making them look silly like caricatures and cartoon like was perfect to back up the whole opinion and topic of the video.

Importance Of Character: The character of Lars Ulrich is very important to the video because he was the member of the band that truly wanted the lawsuit and pushed to have Napster sued. That is why he did almost all of the talking, because the lawsuit mainly revolved around him. The importance of James Hetfield in the video is mainly because he is an important and famous member of the band and at the time they were making fun of his alcoholism.

Plot: The main plot of the video is making fun of Lars Ulrich for making such a huge ordeal out of Napster giving away Metallica’s music for free. He is discussing how all that he cares about is getting money.

Sound: The only sound other than dialogue in the video is a heavier metal sounding beat in the beginning and end credits. The reason that type of music is playing is because Metallica is a metal rock band.
